When the climate is only moderately warm or if the heat comes from inside the room, it has the best cooling power in its class. It is also silent, attractive and easy to move.

However, LG still produces only single-tube portables, which means that when the mercury rises above 90 ° F, it will struggle to cool the room.

When we started testing portable air conditioners, two of our team members had already owned the 10,000 BTU Honeywell model and were familiar with the limits of portable air conditioners.

We spent almost 40 hours looking for the best models on the market and reading test results and consumer reviews on the Web to find out what others are looking for.

We decided to focus on models made internally by large manufacturers, trying to eliminate designs that will be identical within their shells. This is quite common among brands like Sunpentown, Keystone and Danby.

We bought the top-rated models from four three-dimensional manufacturers, including the Honeywell we already used. We then spent over 100 hours testing this first group in the heat of a summer in San Diego.

It quickly became clear that 12,000 BTUs are the ideal point. Our market research shows that even the size of most people buy.

After winning our first raid, we used the LG - LP1215GXR in homes and offices for two years. We tried the 2017 replacement of LG since the specifications were a bit 'better, but we were disappointed by the actual performance compared to our 2016 winner.

In 2018, we added Whynter's 12,000 BTU dual tube model and competitive single Frigidaire tube, along with a limited release 2018 model from LG.
